FREE Information and Advice on NHS Continuing Healthcare

Free advice

IMPORTANT UPDATE (7 JUNE 2021): The restart of post-Covid assessments for Continuing Healthcare led to a large backlog of requests and long waiting times for free advice. We are continuing to work through your messages – and expect to clear the backlog in June – but we’re now also responding to new enquiries within a few days. Immediate expert info is always free in our toolkit (see below).

Contact our Information and Advice Service for up to 90 minutes of free advice from our trained staff.

Our expert advisers can answer your questions on any aspect of NHS Continuing Healthcare in England. We have helped thousands of people to understand the eligibility criteria, navigate the assessment process, understand the Decision Support Tool and your assessment, review a decision, or begin an appeal. We can also talk to you about funding policies and issues in your area.

We can provide information and advice on how NHS Continuing Healthcare has been affected by the coronavirus emergency. In fact, you might find your question is answered in our COVID-19 pages

Contact our free NHS Continuing Healthcare Information and Advice Service on:

Please call and leave a voicemail with your name and phone number, and we will ring you back.

Alternatively, complete our Contact Form, and we’ll get back to you via email or phone.

Please note: this service is funded by NHS England, and is available for people whose CHC assessment or appeal is managed by Clinical Commissioning Groups (or a third party) in England.

Free toolkit

Our free Navigational Toolkit is written by our expert caseworkers and is an essential reference for anyone navigating NHS Continuing Healthcare. It explains the system in detail, how to navigate each stage, and the pitfalls to look out for.

Please note that, during the coronavirus emergency, the toolkit should be used in conjunction with our notes on the temporary changes to CHC enacted by the Coronavirus Act 2020.

To download the Toolkit, or request a copy by post, enter your details on the right-hand side of this page and click ‘Register’. You’ll be automatically directed to a webpage with links to download the documents.

The Toolkit contains four documents:

  • How We Can Help
  • Guide to Continuing Healthcare Assessments
  • Guide to Continuing Healthcare Appeals
  • Continuing Healthcare Legal Background

Our commitment to you

The Information and Advice Service and Toolkit are funded by NHS England, but our expert advice is proudly independent.

At Beacon we also provide paid-for casework services, but this is kept entirely separate from the free advice service. When you call, we will not try to sell you anything and we will only refer you to information about our paid-for services if you ask us to.
